Depicted is ‘Eos’, the eternally beautiful Goddess of the Dawn. The Goddess of Dawn who opened each morning the gates of heaven for the sun to rise, is seen as the mother of all the stars and planets. She brought light to mortals and immortals and her tears are considered to have created the morning dew. Eos was the daughter of Hyperion, a bringer of light. Her brother was the Sun God Helios, and her sister was Selene, the Moon Goddess. Her team of horses pull her chariot across the sky and are named in the Odyssey as Firebright and Daybright. Notice the moon and the sun in the relief engraved under the chariot.
